  • In Colorado, the wedding license is valid immediately – there is no waiting period – and it is good for 30 days.  If not used within 30 days, you will need to reapply.
  • Marriage license applications issued by another state are NOT valid for solemnization in Colorado.
  • Applicants for a marriage license need not be Colorado residents.
  • You may apply for your license at the new location of the Clerk & Recorder’s office at: 1675 W. Garden of The Gods Rd in Colorado Springs.
  • The fee is $30 payable in CASH or by CREDIT CARDNO CHECKS.
  • Upon presentation of valid identification, you will be asked to state your social security number and pay the fee of $30.  You will then receive your license.
  • Both parties must be 18 years or older.  Parental consent is required for either party under 18 years of age.
  • Both parties must complete and sign the marriage application form.  At least ONE of the parties must apply IN PERSON before the Recording staff. If one of the parties cannot appear in person, he or she MUST complete an Absentee Affidavit with a notarized signature and provide a copy of valid identification showing proof of age of the absent party.
  • No blood test is required.
  • Witnesses are not required in El Paso County.
  • If either party is divorced, the court, city, state and date of divorce must be provided.
  • If either party is widowed, the date and place of death of spouse must be provided.
